The role of the Estimator Structural Steel will involve:
- Dealing with structural steelwork; steel frame structures, secondary steelwork packages, lattice trusses and tubular steel, steel platforms and gantries, staircases, balconies and balustrades, bespoke fabrication, on-site fabrication and welding.
- Liaising with clients to collate requirements and specifications from tender documents.
- Carrying out accurate take-offs and bill of quantities (BOQs).
- Formalising final quotations for clients and following up.
- Building and developing relationships with clients to encourage repeat business.
- Managing job costing throughout each project from design to completion and producing regular financial reports.
- Ensuring that project deadlines are adhered to.
- Working on projects varying in value from £10k to £2m.
The ideal applicant will be an Estimator Structural Steel with:
- Extensive estimating experience within the steel fabrication / structural steel market sector.
- Ability to read structural engineer drawings, scopes and specifications and produce take offs.
- Consideration for someone from a shop floor steel fabrication looking to get off the tools.
- Minimum HNC/HND or equivalent in a construction related field.
- IT literate in Microsoft Office.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Good numeracy and literacy skills.
- Effective time management and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
