The role of the Estimator Structural Steel will involve:

  • Estimator position dealing with structural steelwork; steel frame structures, secondary steelwork packages, lattice trusses and tubular steel, steel platforms and gantries, staircases, balconies and balustrades, bespoke fabrication, on-site fabrication and welding
  • Liaising with clients to collate requirements and specifications from tender documents
  • Carrying out accurate take-offs and bill of quantities (BOQs)
  • Formalising final quotations for clients and following up
  • Build and develop relationships with clients to encourage repeat business
  • Manage job costing throughout each project from design to completion and producing regular financial reports
  • Ensure that project deadlines are adhered to
  • Working on projects varying in value from £10k to £2m

The ideal applicant will be Estimator Structural Steel with:

  • Must have extensive estimating experience within the steel fabrication / structural steel market sector
  • Ability to read structural engineer drawings, scopes and specifications and produce take offs
  • Would consider someone from a shop floor steel fabrication looking to get off the tools
  • Ideally will have minimum HNC/HND or equivalent in a construction related field
  • IT literate in Microsoft Office
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills
  • Effective time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
