The role will involve:
- Field sales role selling a full range of manufactured floor coverings / carpet tiles.
- Promoting multi-loop and low level loop carpet tiles as well as some ranges of FRS (full repeatable scroll).
- Selling into architects and interior designers (A&D), fit-out contractors, property developers, universities, colleges, end users, building surveyors, letting agents, estate management, local authorities and main contractors.
- Developing the role over time to spend more time with the A&D specifiers and less with the transactional flooring contractors.
- Working alongside another trade field sales professional responsible for account managing direct flooring contractor accounts in the area.
- Inheriting an area with a turnover of approx. £1.2m (historically has achieved budget over the last three years).
- New business position, although there will be a healthy project bank to inherit.
- Targeting commercial buildings such as office blocks as well as the education sector: schools, universities & colleges and a small amount of healthcare.
- Utilising ABI leads and in-house CRM database.
- Project sizes from 500m², typically £10,000 upwards project value.
The ideal applicant will have:
- A proven track record of selling into the architects or interior designers (A&D) specification marketplace.
- Experience in the flooring/carpet industry.
- Openness to interior products such as wall coverings, fabric, ceiling, partitioning or furniture.
- Contacts within fit-out contractors, universities, colleges, end users, building surveyors, letting agents, estate management and local authorities are not essential.
- A tactile sales background rather than technical, having sold something aesthetically pleasing, ideally flooring related.
- Strong team player qualities.
- Energy, passion and enthusiasm.
- Strong commercial and presentation skills.
