The role of the General Manager – Timber Manufacturing will involve:

  • Managing all sawmilling operations
  • Full responsibility for Engineering, Production, Maintenance, Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) activities
  • Contributing towards the achievement of the company’s strategic and operational targets and overall business aim
  • Developing and managing budgets which incorporate all cost centres under area of responsibility and contribute to budget preparation and standardisation across the business
  • Encouraging a culture of continuous improvement, implementing lean manufacturing techniques and other efficiency initiatives
  • Liaising with all teams to ensure the most effective use of resources to deliver agreed budgeted production
  • Overseeing a production plant of circa 220 staff with circa 10 direct reports

The ideal applicant will be a General Manager – Timber Manufacturing with:

  • 5+ years management experience in a production/manufacturing environment role
  • A strong engineering focus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field (highly advantageous)
  • Lean manufacturing skillset (5S), IOSH & NEBOSH qualifications (advantageous)
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • IT literate and familiar with manufacturing software
  • Proactive, motivated, and highly organised
