This is a great opportunity for a commercially minded Financial Controller to join a well-established, owner-managed manufacturing business in Oldbury. This is a true Number 1 Finance position, working closely with the MD and taking ownership of the financial control and direction of the business. The business is down to earth, hardworking and straightforward in its approach. They are looking for someone who is comfortable getting stuck in, understands how a manufacturing business really operates and can bring strong financial discipline without overcomplicating things.
We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to step into a broad, hands-on role where you'll have genuine ownership of the finance function. You'll act as the key financial partner to the MD, providing the numbers, insight and challenge needed to support good commercial decision-making.
A key part of the role will be developing a strong understanding of the manufacturing operation particularly around BOMs, product costing, margins and production performance and making sure the financial information accurately reflects what is happening on the shop floor. You'll also take responsibility for maintaining robust financial controls. The business operates across multiple currencies, so experience of managing foreign currency transactions and the associated financial considerations will be important.
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience in a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or Number 1 Finance position within manufacturing
- Strong understanding of financial control and management accounting
- Good knowledge of BOMs, product costing and manufacturing margins
- Experience working with multi-currency transactions
- The confidence to work closely with an owner/MD and act as a genuine financial sounding board
- A hands-on approach and willingness to get into the detail when required
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to translate numbers into meaningful business decisions
- Ideally professionally qualified, although strong relevant experience will be considered
In return, you will get:
- A genuine Number 1 Finance opportunity with ownership of the function
- The opportunity to make a real impact on financial control and commercial decision-making
- A broad manufacturing role where you'll be close to the operational side of the business
- A down-to-earth, hardworking environment where people genuinely get stuck in
- The autonomy to improve processes and strengthen the finance function
- A role where your opinion and expertise will genuinely be valued
If you're an experienced finance professional looking for a role where you're more than just the person producing the numbers, this could be a great fit. The business is looking for someone who will become a trusted partner to the MD, bring rigour to the finance function and really understand how the numbers translate into the day-to-day manufacturing operation.
