An established and highly acquisitive services business based in the heart of Birmingham is seeking a professional interim to join its central finance team in a Financial Controller capacity. This role is ideal for a qualified accountant who is detail-oriented and thrives in a fast-paced, client facing environment.
You'll be leading a small finance team of 3 direct reports, and will play a key role in consolidating and overseeing financial data from across the finance functions. This is a hands-on position with a strong emphasis on traditional controlling in a client facing manner, making it well-suited to someone who enjoys business partnering outside of the finance function.
Within this role you will be responsible for:
- Leading the preparation of monthly management accounts and statutory financial statements.
- Consolidating financial information from operational teams to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Managing the month-end close process, including balance sheet reconciliations and accruals.
- Ensuring financial controls and procedures are maintained and improved where necessary.
Ideally, you will:
- Be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with previous experience managing and developing finance teams.
- Have proven experience in a client facing role and a strong understanding of financial control.
- Have excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
