An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a technically strong and commercially minded finance leader to join a large, multi-site international group headquartered in Birmingham.

The business is experiencing continued growth and transformation, making this an exciting time to join. This role offers the opportunity to shape reporting standards, strengthen the group’s planning capability and make a meaningful impact on its long-term strategic direction.

Reporting directly to the Group Finance Director, the Head of Reporting and FP&A will take ownership of group financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting.

This is a highly visible position with regular exposure to all Group Board members. You will lead a capable team of four and work closely with senior operational and functional leaders across the organisation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Owning the monthly financial close and delivering accurate, insightful consolidated management reporting.
  • Leading the annual group audit and preparation of the consolidated statutory accounts.
  • Taking ownership of technical accounting matters, including FRS 102 compliance, acquisitions, disposals, impairment reviews and complex accounting judgements.
  • Managing relationships with external auditors, tax advisers and other key stakeholders.
  • Leading the group budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Producing scenario analysis, sensitivity modelling and forward-looking insight to support executive decision-making.
  • Identifying emerging risks, opportunities and performance trends.
  • Developing meaningful KPIs that improve transparency, accountability and performance across the group.
  • Partnering with operational and functional leaders to improve commercial decision-making.
  • Supporting capital investment appraisals and monitoring expenditure against budget.
  • Contributing to acquisitions, restructurings, growth initiatives and other strategic projects.
  • Driving improvements in financial controls, governance, reporting processes and wider finance transformation.
  • Leading, developing and mentoring the reporting team, creating a collaborative and high-performing culture.

Ideally, you will:

  • Be a qualified accountant, ideally ACA or ACCA, with strong technical accounting and financial reporting experience gained within a large or complex organisation.
  • Have a strong understanding of FRS 102 and proven experience leading complex external audits. Exposure to consolidated group reporting, budgeting and forecasting is essential.
  • Combine technical credibility with genuine commercial awareness. You should be comfortable operating at board level, influencing senior stakeholders and translating complex financial information into clear and practical recommendations.

You will also be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience leading and developing a high-performing finance team.
  • The ability to improve processes and support a business through change.
  • Strong analytical, modelling and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • High levels of integrity, professionalism and sound judgement.
  • The ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on operational delivery.

This is a rare opportunity to join a substantial international group at an important stage of its development. The role offers significant board exposure, a broad remit and the opportunity to shape both financial reporting and strategic planning across the organisation.
