The Rope Access and NDT Site Supervisor will take a lead role in the active supervision and delivery of onsite Rope Access and NDT projects at clients sites and provide support to the Head of Operations and IRATA Technical Authority.
General Responsibilities
- Assist with planning, resources and equipment requirements for projects.
- Act as a lead focal point of contact for customer(s) and supervising specific projects.
- Create, execute project plans, revise and maintain to achieve agreed deadlines.
- Follow MISTRAS safety work practices and procedures.
- Work closely with the Mistras technical support team and act as the site lead for allocated projects to ensure all actions are identified and undertaken on time, efficiently and effectively.
- Managing on‑site risks and issues associated with project performance.
- Accountable for the delivery of the contract within the time and budget allocated.
- Identify, select, and manage resources and assigned responsibilities.
- Manage and report on day‑to‑day operational aspects of the projects.
- Ensure all project related documents are maintained and kept current.
- Work closely with all stakeholders maintaining a high level of communication.
- Work closely with other Project teams based in and around the UK, Europe and Globally.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills, professionalism, and promote a positive customer service attitude internally and externally.
- Highlight issues early to both Head of Operations and IRATA Technical Authority.
- Undertake site visits as required.
- Mentor, guide and develop trainee Rope Access and NDT technicians.
- Provide safety leadership for the project.
- Take an active part in safety observations and good catch programmes.
Rope Access Responsibilities
- Lead on‑site Rope Access and NDT projects/campaigns.
- Adhere to MISTAS rope access procedures and processes.
- Inspect Rope Access Equipment and ensure accurate record keeping of Rope Access Equipment use.
- Assist with the organization and management of the Rope Access Stores and Equipment.
- Assist the IRATA Technical Authority and Global Rope Access Management Team with the ongoing development, maintenance and implementation of the rope access management system.
- Support the Rope Access Manager, Mistras Management and Global Rope Access Team in the proactive maintenance and implementation of the Rope Access Management System.
- Assist the Rope Access Manager with the preparation for IRATA Audits.
- Review site locations and Site Assessments and Audits.
- Assist with personnel selection and competency audits.
- Keep abreast of updates to rope access equipment and appropriate standards and regulations.
NDT Responsibilities
- Perform NDT activities in line with the work pack in a safe and efficient manner.
- Prepare and assist with UKAS 17020 Audits.
- Set up and calibrate all inspection equipment used on the project.
- Lead on‑site NDT projects/campaigns.
- Manage client relations on site in a professional manner.
- Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications.
- Interpret and evaluate inspection results.
- Prepare client inspection reports.
- Review and approve client inspection reports.
- Develop NDT procedures with support of Level 3 where required.
- Mentor and train NDT personnel in the method(s) certified.
- Assist with the organization and management of the NDT Equipment and Stores.
- Work in collaboration with NDT teams across the UK, Europe and Globally.
Your Profile and Previous Experience
- Currently hold an IRATA L3 with a minimum 5 years’ experience.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or management role.
- Have the relevant knowledge and experience of rope access management systems and be competent and available to demonstrate such skills at an audit.
- Experience in either Oil and Gas or the Infrastructure Sector.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office packages.
- Logical and structured planning and organization skills.
- Good communication skills, both written and oral.
- Good problem‑solving skills and ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Dynamic, self‑motivated and comfortable juggling priorities and working to tight deadlines.
- Resilient and positive, able to deal with the requirements of an evolving organization.
- Clean, valid driving licence.
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role with a track record of delivering NDT techniques in different working environments (e.g., offshore, onshore, overseas).
- Have a good general knowledge of all commonly used NDT methods, including their limitations.
- Experience of performing NDT activities at height.
- Demonstrable experience in preparation of work packs.
- Strong communication skills, both internally and externally.
