We are looking for a Monitoring Systems Engineer to support the delivery of technically advanced Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) and remote monitoring solutions for customers across infrastructure, industrial, and energy sectors. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on sensing technologies, data acquisition systems, and live monitoring platforms. You’ll be involved from system deployment and commissioning through to the transition into long-term remote monitoring and data delivery. The role is technically challenging and rewarding, offering exposure to advanced monitoring technologies, real-world applications, and a clear pathway into senior technical or project leadership roles within a global engineering organisation.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting the delivery of monitoring projects from mobilisation through to commissioning
- Acting as a technical lead on site during installation and commissioning of monitoring systems
- Deploying, configuring, and testing sensors, data acquisition hardware, and monitoring technologies
- Verifying system performance and data integrity prior to handover to live monitoring
- Supporting the transition from installation into remote monitoring and data delivery
- Producing and maintaining technical documentation, reports, and project records
- Maintaining high standards of health, safety, and quality at all times
Travel is project-based and planned, typically involving periods of less than two weeks away from home. Projects may involve working at height and/or confined space working. Projects may be UK-based, overseas, or offshore, depending on customer requirements.
What we’re looking for:
- Experience in monitoring systems, instrumentation, sensing technologies, or data acquisition
- Comfortable working on site during installation and commissioning phases
- Experience in preparing site documents (risk assessments, method statements, quality plans etc)
- Strong technical aptitude with a practical, problem-solving mindset
- Organised, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple workstreams
- Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally as required
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation
- Basic knowledge of IT networks
- Training and certification including: CSCS, GWO, working at height, confined space (desirable)
- CDM awareness (desirable)
- Full UK driving licence
