About Mistral

Mistral provides full-stack AI solutions: from frontier models to developer tools, applications, and compute. We partner with enterprises tackling the hardest problems across high-stakes industries like finance, manufacturing, defense, healthcare, and the public sector, co-creating customized AI systems that they can run on their terms. We are a dynamic, collaborative team passionate about AI and its potential to transform society. Our diverse workforce thrives in competitive environments and is committed to driving innovation. Our teams are distributed between Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East. We are creative, low-ego and team-spirited.

The Role

As a People Tech & Analytics Engineer on the People team, you will build the systems, data pipelines, and automations behind how Mistral runs People Operations. Reporting to the People Tech & Analytics Lead, you will turn the roadmap into reality: wiring our HR tech stack together, making data flow reliably between systems, and automating people processes with third-party tools as well as Mistral's own models, agents, and APIs.

This is an individual contributor role for someone who loves building. You will spend most of your time in the systems and the data, deep-diving into problems: connecting HRIS, ATS, payroll, identity, and finance tools, standing up the data layer behind our people metrics, and shipping automations that remove manual work from the People team.

If you are a data engineer or people technology specialist who wants to deliver meaningful automation outcomes at Europe's largest AI company, this is the role for you.

What You Will Do

  • Build, maintain, and troubleshoot integrations and data pipelines across our HR systems (HRIS, ATS, payroll, identity and finance), run data quality checks, and fix inconsistencies at the source.
  • Implement and evolve the Metabase visualisation layer of our people data lake, build the dashboards and self-serve reporting managers and People partners rely on, and run hands-on analyses of workforce trends, retention and organisational health, supporting the move to conversational insights for leadership.
  • Design, build, test and document automated workflows, mainly with Mistral's own models, agents and APIs, with human review wherever decisions affect people, monitor live automations with alerting, error handling, logging and runbooks, and prototype AI use cases on people processes, productionising the ones that prove their worth.
  • Implement configuration changes across the HR tech stack (workflows, fields, roles and permissions, new countries and entities), support testing and rollout of system changes and integrations, and act as first-line troubleshooter for the People team, leading issue resolution through to production with a clear audit trail.
  • Architect end-to-end HR workflows with key stakeholders in HR Operations, Business Partnering and Reward, and implement data governance in practice: quality standards, access controls, retention rules and audit trails for employee data.
  • Provide clear enablement materials in Notion so the People team and managers can use our systems confidently, with strong tier-1 support via a bot.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in data engineering, analytics engineering or HR technology, ideally within an HR or People function or working closely with one as a stakeholder.
  • Strong practical SQL and Python skills: you are comfortable building pipelines and transformations yourself.
  • Hands-on experience with HR systems such as Ashby, and integrating them with ATS, payroll, identity and finance tools via APIs, middleware and data pipelines.
  • Real automation experience: you have built and maintained workflows in n8n or similar tools such as Make, Zapier, Workato or Langdock, and you are excited to do the same with Mistral's own models and tooling.
  • Working experience with data warehousing (Snowflake, BigQuery) and the modern data stack (dbt or similar), and with visualisation tools such as Metabase, Looker, Tableau or Power BI.
  • You are low-ego and team-spirited, and you take a prioritised problem and run with it in ambiguity: you would rather build a first version and iterate than wait for a perfect spec. You start from the HR need, not the technology, stay hands-on, and have a track record of building foundations in growing organisations without creating legacy.
