As part of its expanding work and diversification, Mistev EHC is seeking prospective candidates to work as Official Veterinarians, providing official control in cutting plants on behalf of the Food Standards Scotland and export certification across north-east Scotland.

The role

Conducting veterinary checks at meat establishments (cutting plants) to support the competent authority in ensuring that products intended for the Chinese meat export market meet all safety standards.

It\\\βs really helpful to get to know the Scottish Manual for Official Controls along with the current laws that apply to meat establishments. This way, you can be confident you\\\βre on the right track and well-informed.

Knowing the EHC requirements (Export Health Certification) and NFG (Notes for Guidance) for each export to both EU and non-EU countries beforehand, and keeping up to date with any new requirements or changes.

Visiting export locations, such as slaughterhouses, cutting plants, cold stores, meat and meat product establishments, and retailers, to conduct on-site export certification to the highest standard. If the candidate doesn\\\βt have the necessary qualifications to perform export certification, Mistev EHC can provide this service.

Skills/Qualifications required and Requisites

Veterinary medicine degree.

Full membership of The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons or the ability to obtain it.

Ideally, hold the Official Veterinary Course. This training might be provided if required.

Ideally, hold the OCQ(V) β EX (Exports General) and OCQ(V) β PX (Product Exports) qualifications. This is not essential as full training would be provided.

It will be highly valued if the candidate has previous experience in export certification and in the delivery of official controls.

UK or EEA citizen with the right to work in the UK.
