Due to business growth, the company is looking for prospective candidates to work as Official Veterinarians in different locations within Scotland. Our team requires a qualified Official Veterinarian for official control in meat establishments in Scotland to work on behalf of the Food Standards Scotland.
Responsibilities- Conducting veterinary checks in meat establishments on behalf of the competent authority.
- Managing Plant Inspection Teams.
- Familiarising with the Scottish Manual for Official Controls and current legislation applicable to meat establishments.
- Attending export locations (slaughterhouses, cutting plants, cold stores; meat and meat products establishments, retailers) to carry out export certification on site to the highest standard, if hours of attendance in meat plants allow.
If the candidate does not hold the required qualifications to carry out export certification, Mistev EHC can provide this. To ensure the highest standard of service, we communicate regularly with customers and their representatives, building rapport with them and seeking continuous improvement.
Skills/Qualifications required and Requisites- Veterinary medicine degree.
- Full membership of The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons or ability to obtain it.
- Ideally, hold the Official Veterinary Course (this training might be provided, if required).
- Ideally, hold the OCQ(V) - EX (Exports General) and OCQ(V) - PX (Product Exports) qualifications (this is not essential as full training would be provided).
- Previous experience on export certification and on the delivery of official controls is highly valued.
- UK or EEA citizen with right to work in the UK.
