About MissionAssist: MissionAssist's services and resources are offered without charge to mission workers around the world, for the sake of the gospel. Our projects include the Bible Digitisation Project, EasyEnglish Bible and Shell Books. As a network of home-based volunteers, technology is essential both to how we collaborate internally and how we deliver services to others.
The Role
The Head of IT provides oversight and coordination of MissionAssist's use of information technology. The role focuses on ensuring that our IT systems and practices continue to support the charity's volunteers and projects in practical and appropriate ways. Working collaboratively with existing IT volunteers, the Head of IT helps guide priorities, supports ongoing improvements and helps maintain clear communication about IT activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall oversight of MissionAssist's use of IT.
- Maintain a forward-looking approach to technology that supports the charity's day‐to‐day activities.
- Consider and suggest appropriate ways technology could help the charity work more effectively.
- Offer guidance and encouragement to existing, experienced IT volunteers.
- Help identify and welcome additional skilled volunteers where needed.
- Report to the CEO, providing updates as required, including an annual summary report.
Experience, Skills, Abilities
- Comfortable with day‐to‐day IT, including a good working understanding of Microsoft 365 and online collaboration tools.
- Awareness of common operating systems, software, and hardware (hands‐on expertise welcome but not essential).
- Interest in how technology choices and simple policies can support people and organisations.
- Experience of coordinating and supporting others to achieve shared goals.
- Collaborative and encouraging approach, well suited to a volunteer organisation.
- Ability to work independently and communicate clearly in a virtual environment.
- Willingness to support the ethos and values of MissionAssist as a faith‐based charity.
