About the Role
This is the senior commercial role in the business. You'll own Mission's growth strategy and the numbers behind it - acquisition, conversion, retention, contribution margin - and you'll work as a genuine partner to the founder on where the business goes next. There is no team to delegate to yet. You'll set the strategy and run the Meta account. You'll define the testing roadmap and build the landing pages. As we scale, you'll hire the growth team and lead it. We're open to starting this on a fractional basis for the right person, with a view to going full time as the business grows.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Own growth strategy and the commercial agenda
- Setting growth priorities, targets and resource allocation with the founder
- Owning CAC, ROAS, payback, contribution margin and the path to profitable scale
- Deciding what we test, what we kill and where the next pound goes
- Bringing a clear, opinionated view on how Mission gets from £2m to £10m
- Lead customer acquisition
- Managing and optimising Meta campaigns
- Managing Google Ads, including Search and Shopping
- Turning customer insight into better hooks, ads, landing pages and offers
- Building a repeatable creative testing process
- Reporting clearly on what's working, what isn't, and what we do next
- Own website conversion and experimentation
- Running A/B tests across offers, landing pages, bundles and messaging
- Improving product pages, subscription flows and checkout conversion
- Testing different propositions and customer psychology angles
- Launching fast landing page tests for new product ideas
- Improving site experience yourself with Claude Code, and external developers occasionally if needed
- Managing the Amazon account (c.10% of revenue)
- Grow CRM revenue
- Managing email and SMS campaigns and improving lifecycle flows
- Increasing repeat purchase, subscription conversion and retention
- Segmenting customers based on behaviour and needs
- Developing campaigns around launches, collaborations, education and offers
- Build the growth operating system - and eventually the team
- Weekly growth reporting, test roadmaps, campaign calendars and channel reviews
- Fast feedback loops between creative, product, website and customer insight
- Defining the roles we hire next, and hiring and leading them as we scale
Requirements
We're looking for someone who has already built and run growth at a fast-moving consumer brand and now wants something that feels like theirs. You're probably a Head of Growth or Growth Director who's done the £1m-to-£10m journey (or a big part of it) and is hungry to do it again with real ownership this time. Ideally, you'll have:
- 5-8+ years in growth, performance marketing and D2C ecommerce
- Experience scaling a consumer startup, ideally in health & wellness, fitness, performance, food, drink or supplements
- Strong hands-on experience managing Meta Ads
- Highly comfortable / native in using AI tools across most if not all of the role
- Working knowledge of Google Ads, Shopify, Claude, Amazon and CRM platforms
- Deep fluency in CAC, ROAS, LTV, contribution margin and payback
- Experience running website tests, landing page tests and offer experiments
- Strong commercial instincts - confident enough to challenge the founder
- A bias for action - you get things done
- A good eye for creative, messaging and consumer psychology
- Genuine interest in health, wellness, fitness or performance
- Ambitious, positive, curious, scrappy and resilient
- Strong entrepreneurial mindset
Benefits
- Highly competitive salary
