An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Drainage Engineer to join a growing and well-established hydrology team based in Sheffield. This role offers the chance to take a leading position in delivering flood risk and drainage solutions, while managing projects, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to the continued growth of the business.

You will be responsible for providing expert input across a range of flood risk and drainage projects, from initial assessment through to design and delivery. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the delivery of Flood Risk Assessments (FRA) and drainage strategies
  • Designing and advising on SuDS and flood mitigation solutions
  • Managing multiple projects, ensuring delivery on time and within budget
  • Preparing and reviewing technical reports and fee proposals
  • Overseeing risk assessments, RAMS, and project documentation
  • Acting as a key point of contact for clients and stakeholders
  • Supporting and mentoring junior team members
  • Providing technical guidance and conducting peer reviews
  • Contributing to business development and client growth

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A degree (BSc or MSc) in Hydrology, Environmental Science, Geography, or a related discipline
  • 3-5+ years’ experience within flood risk, drainage, or hydrology
  • Chartered status (CIWEM or equivalent)
  • Strong experience delivering FRA’s, drainage design, and SuDS schemes
  • Proven ability to manage projects and lead teams
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills
  • Commercial awareness, including budget and financial management
