Mechanical Maintenance Engineer Location: Park Farm Shift Pattern: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm Working Hours: Days only, with no rotating shifts The Opportunity We're looking for a hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a specialist manufacturing business producing fertiliser products for agricultural, horticultural and industrial markets. This is a practical, mechanically focused role where you'll play a key part in keeping the manufacturing plant running efficiently, reducing breakdowns and improving equipment reliability. You'll take ownership of planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs and ongoing improvements across the site. Experience with pumps, pumping systems and industrial pipework would be particularly beneficial, while welding and fabrication skills are a bonus rather than a requirement. Working closely with the Production team, you'll have the opportunity to use your initiative, solve problems and make a real difference to the day-to-day running of the operation. Specialist electrical work will be supported by external contractors where required. The Role Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across plant and production equipment. Diagnose mechanical faults, respond to breakdowns and complete repairs safely and efficiently. Maintain and repair pumps, pumping systems, valves, pipework, fittings and associated components. Identify recurring issues and implement improvements to reduce downtime and improve reliability. Work alongside Production to plan maintenance activities and minimise disruption. Support the installation, modification and improvement of machinery and plant equipment. Manage engineering spares, identify replacement parts and support parts sourcing. Liaise with external contractors, including specialist electrical engineers. Maintain accurate maintenance records and PPM documentation. Follow site safety procedures, isolation requirements and quality standards. Carry out basic welding and fabrication where suitably skilled. What We're Looking For Essential experience: Previous hands-on mechanical maintenance or mechanical engineering experience. Experience maintaining industrial, manufacturing or process equipment. Strong mechanical fault-finding, diagnostic and repair skills. The ability to work independently, manage priorities and respond to breakdowns. A practical approach to preventative maintenance and equipment reliability. A good understanding of safe working practices. Confidence using a computer for maintenance records, research and logging work. Desirable experience: Maintaining pumps, pumping systems and associated equipment. Working with industrial pipework, valves, fittings and connections. Experience within manufacturing, chemical or process environments. A recognised mechanical engineering or maintenance qualification. Welding or fabrication skills. Basic electrical fault awareness. Experience using a computerised maintenance management system. The Ideal Candidate You'll be a practical, reliable engineer who enjoys getting hands-on with machinery, diagnosing faults and finding solutions. You'll be comfortable taking ownership of your work, working with minimal supervision and knowing when specialist support is needed. If you're a mechanically minded engineer looking for a stable, weekday role where you can make a genuine impact on plant performance, we'd like to hear from you. TPBN1_UKTJ
