The Role

The primary mission of the Mission Community Armed Forces Engagement Lead is to help us champion the Armed Forces in society by recognising, celebrating and demonstrating the value of every member of the Armed Forces to every community in the country. We are an advocacy body, and a brand of long-established Service charity Mission Motorsport, with whom we share administrative functions as one charity.

Our primary focus right now are the communities within industry via our work with the Office for Veterans Affairs’‘Veterans Industry Engagement Programme’, funded by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust (AFCFT) grant to whom we are accountable. These manifest via our ‘Missions’, Sector Initiative campaigns allied to specific industry trade bodies, organisations and companies. These are the main stakeholders our AFELs interact with daily.

This role is strategic in outlook and tactical in delivery, requiring the sort of individual who is at ease communicating to senior leaders within industry, as well as someone who is willing to roll their sleeves up and participate in events, host meetings and deliver KPIs. This includes our National Transition Event at Silverstone, that annually hosts 1900+ members of the Armed Forces community. Our team is small, independent, but open and inclusive, and we approach projects as a whole team.

Our team delivers advice on reporting social value, Defence as a customer and Armed Forces Champion training. For example, Armed Forces engagement support to an event or an individual company. • Function as an ally of the MoD, Office for Veterans’ Affairs (OVA), Career Transition Partnership (CTP), Defence Relationship Management (DRM) and Reserve Forces & Cadets Associations (RFCAs).

• Ensure accurate and timely recording of Armed Forces engagement activity via reports and regular team meetings. • Contribution to our products and outputs, such as helping the team, develop sector guides alongside industry partners.
