Mission Aviation Fellowship International

Overview

MAF is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Software Tester to help ensure the quality, reliability, and usability of our software applications. Working as part of our agile IT team alongside developers, product owners, and project managers, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of software that enables MAF’s mission of bringing help, hope, and healing through aviation.

As Software Tester, you will help design, implement, and execute effective testing strategies across a range of business applications. You will work collaboratively with a global, multicultural workforce to clarify requirements, identify risks, and ensure software meets the highest standards of quality and user satisfaction.

Salary: £36,700 per annum

Responsibilities

The role will include the following:

You will work closely with the Product Owner and development team to clarify requirements, resolve ambiguities, and ensure a shared understanding of the expected software behaviour. You will translate business and technical requirements into effective test cases and test scripts, supporting the delivery of high-quality software across the development lifecycle.

You will execute both manual and automated testing to validate functionality, performance, stability, consistency, and usability, while also carrying out regression testing to ensure new features and bug fixes do not adversely affect existing functionality. You will analyse test results, report defects and faults, and highlight any deviations from expected outcomes in a clear and timely manner.

Working within an agile environment, you will actively participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, while following agreed test and release processes across all testing activities and environments. You will maintain accurate and up-to-date testing documentation, including automated procedures, test environments, and test result analysis, and support the creation of end-user and functional change documentation where required. In addition, you will provide business application support by troubleshooting incidents, assisting with problem resolution, and supporting software releases through tools such as Octopus Deploy and Azure DevOps. You will also take a proactive approach to identifying opportunities to improve testability, automation, stability, and overall efficiency, contributing to continuous improvement across the team.
