My client, based in Welwyn, are looking for a precision-driven Panel Beater / Spray Painter to join their specialist team. The successful candidate will be a true craftsman with a passion for automotive restoration and repair. You will be responsible for the end-to-end physical restoration of vehicles—from structural repair and panel alignment to high-quality paint finishing—ensuring every vehicle leaves the workshop in showroom condition.

Working Hours: Standard hours are 09:00 – 17:00, Monday to Friday. However, my client offers flexible scheduling options that can extend up to 19:00 and include Saturdays, with a maximum of 09:00 – 19:00, Monday to Saturday.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate vehicle damage to determine the most efficient and effective repair methods.
  • Remove, repair, and replace damaged body panels using a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Restore structural integrity through expert welding and component bonding.
  • Prepare surfaces (sanding, masking, priming) and apply high-quality paint finishes to match OEM standards.
  • Reassemble vehicle components with total accuracy according to manufacturer schematics.
  • Ensure all work meets strict safety standards and exceeds customer expectations.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure a clean, safe workspace in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Provide clear updates to the front-of-house team or customers regarding repair timelines and progress.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Expert-level use of specialised hand and power tools (e.g., pullers, grinders, spray guns).
  • Strong understanding of vehicle construction and the ability to troubleshoot complex assembly issues.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and manufacturer repair manuals.
  • Comfortable performing heavy lifting and manual labour consistent with automotive bodywork.
  • A "right-first-time" attitude with a keen eye for paint matching and panel gaps.
  • Proficiency in MIG/TIG welding is highly desirable.
