With a starting salary of £42,500, this is a pivotal role in driving production and the team. My client serves the world’s leading OEM and EMS companies with global product sourcing and traceability, electronic product design, logistics and supply-chain management as well as in-house anti-counterfeit testing and product obsolescence management. This company is highly regarded and respected in their field.

As a Shift Manager, you will play a pivotal role in leading operational performance across inbound, inspection, and outbound functions. With passion, innovation, and focus, you will ensure that every shift runs efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with company standards and customer expectations. This is a hands-on leadership role that blends people management with process optimisation. You will motivate, coach, and develop your team to deliver consistent productivity and quality targets while embedding a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Acting as the critical link between the operational floor and senior leadership, you will drive real-time decision-making, problem-solving, and KPI delivery, ensuring all daily activities support the company’s growth ambitions and customer satisfaction goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Team Development
    • Inspire and coach team members to build confidence, competence, and pride in their work.
    • Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
    • Conduct regular feedback sessions and support development plans.
    • Manage shift handovers effectively to maintain communication continuity.
  • Productivity & Performance Management
    • Lead daily briefings to review KPIs for throughput, accuracy, and delivery performance.
    • Monitor ERP dashboards and data reports to track progress and identify trends.
    • Implement daily improvement actions to remove bottlenecks and enhance output.
    • Maintain strong control of shift staffing, attendance, and resource allocation.
  • Health & Safety Compliance
    • Lead by example in promoting a ‘Safety-First’ culture.
    • Ensure compliance with PPE, ESD/MSL, SOPs, and Safe Systems of Work (SSoW).
    • Conduct safety observations and escalate risks or incidents promptly.
  • Process & Continuous Improvement
    • Identify and execute lean initiatives including 5S, waste reduction, and process optimisation.
    • Collaborate with Operations Leadership to implement scalable workflow improvements.
    • Support the adoption of new systems, automation, and training initiatives.
  • Communication & Collaboration
    • Liaise with QA, Sales, and Supporting departments to ensure daily operational alignment.
    • Provide shift summaries and performance insights to Operations Leadership.
    • Encourage open communication, innovation, and knowledge-sharing across teams.
  • KPI & SLA Accountability
    • Track and report on core metrics: order accuracy, OTIF, SKUs processed/hour, rework rates, and safety incidents.
    • Ensure SLAs are consistently met and exceeded through proactive planning.
    • Present shift data at operational reviews, highlighting key achievements and areas for improvement.

The Ideal Person:

  • Proven experience in managing a team.
  • Technical awareness with good knowledge of ERP or WMS systems.
  • Analytical and data-driven, balancing quality and speed under pressure.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Previous experience in logistics, distribution, or electronics manufacturing operations.
  • Working knowledge of ISO standards and compliance processes.
  • Supervisory or management experience.
