My client, an established building and renovation company, based in Stevenage are looking for a claims handler to join their team.

In this role, you’ll be the primary point of contact for their valued policyholders, guiding them through the claims process while ensuring efficient and accurate resolution. You’ll work closely with contractors and suppliers, overseeing repairs and ensuring client satisfaction.

Ideally, you will have a background in claims handling and have a good understanding of the insurance claims process from start to finish. Experience within the construction industry would be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

Client and Policyholder Interaction:

  • Respond to inquiries and concerns regarding claims in a timely and professional manner.
  • Build rapport and maintain positive relationships with policyholders throughout the claims process.
  • Explain claim procedures and coverage details in a clear and concise way.

Claims Processing:

  • Process insurance claims accurately and efficiently, ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Review and verify claim forms for completeness and accuracy.
  • Enter data into the claims processing system and maintain accurate records.
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or issues identified during the claims process.
  • Communicate effectively with insurance providers, policyholders, and healthcare providers to gather necessary claim information.

Project Management and Repair Oversight:

  • Oversee tradespeople on-site during repair work, ensuring adherence to deadlines and quality standards.
  • Order materials from suppliers based on client selections and project specifications.
  • Address any concerns or issues that arise during the repair process.

Compliance and Confidentiality:

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all sensitive client information.
  • Follow established company policies and procedures for claims processing.

The successful candidate will have:

  • At least 1 years’ experience within a similar role (experience within the construction industry preferable)
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to deal with a high volume of claims
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and a keen eye for problem-solving.
  • Strong customer service skills with a focus on building positive relationships.
