My client, based in St. Albans is seeking a dedicated, "hands-on" Transport Planner to join their fast-paced operations team. Their business is a critical link in the construction supply chain, providing high-volume aggregate supply and muck-away services for major infrastructure projects and private clients alike. This is a high-energy role that requires a sharp mind and a commitment to keeping a large fleet moving efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the complex daily routing of our tipper fleet to ensure maximum vehicle utilization and efficiency.
- Organising the timely delivery of aggregates and the efficient removal of waste materials (muck-away) across multiple sites.
- Working hand-in-hand with Transport Managers to ensure the fleet remains compliant, safe, and high-performing.
- Acting as the professional face of the office for our drivers and providing a reliable, clear point of contact for our customers.
- Adjusting plans in real-time to account for site delays, traffic, or changing customer requirements.
The Successful Candidate Will Have
We are looking for the right person, not just the right CV. You will fit into one of these three profiles:
- The Experienced Professional: You are currently in a transport or logistics planning role and are looking for a fresh challenge or a change of environment within a specialised fleet.
- The Industry Expert: You are a current HGV or Tipper Driver looking to hang up the keys and transition your "road smarts" and technical knowledge into an office-based management career.
- The Motivated Learner: You are a proactive entry-level candidate with a genuine interest in construction and transport, ready to learn a complex trade from the ground up.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to commit to a 06:30 - 17:00 schedule, including Saturday mornings on a rotational basis.
- A clear, confident telephone manner and the ability to give concise instructions to a mobile workforce.
- A positive, "get it done" attitude and the ability to stay calm under the pressure of a busy transport office.
- Strong multitasking skills and the ability to stay organised when priorities shift.
Despite our best efforts it is not always possible to respond to every application individually due to the high volume of responses we receive on each vacancy. Only candidates who are short listed will be contacted for this particular role and if you have not heard from us within 7 days please assume that you have not been successful. However, we will keep your details on our database, and will contact you when other suitable positions become available.
