Our central Legal Support Services function provides comprehensive support to Mishcon's fee earners that is frictionless and service-driven to enable our lawyers in London and across our international offices to focus on their legal work and client service. Our teams provide a wide range of administrative, operational, and legal support, as well as PA services. This is an exciting entry-level Paralegal role and an opportunity to provide support to practice groups with a variety of legal administrative tasks and junior paralegal tasks. This role is part of a small team of Legal Administrators who provide centralised support from within a Legal Admin Unit. Most interactions will be with our Immigration practice group, as well as other teams with a high legal administrative burden.

Responsibilities

  • Compiling electronic and binding hard copy documents, incl. deal bibles and electronic court bundles
  • Making online Property searches, companies house searches and obtaining land registry documentation
  • Drafting Land Registry and company house applications, replying to enquiries and chasing all outstanding matters and dealing with additional enquiries
  • Creating data sites and managing the same including uploading documents
  • Preparation of legal documents and forms as required
  • Reviewing and scheduling deeds and documents both electronic and hard copy
  • Performing transcriptions and machine translations
  • Database management
  • Assisting with research requests
  • Supporting DocuSign processes at deal closing
  • Support with the set-up and management of large-scale document reviews
  • Scanning and copying of documents and liaising with Print Room to ensure all photocopying and production is undertaken within certain timeframes
  • Utilising technology-based solutions in the department to assist fee-earners with tasks on matters
  • Providing support as required by the fee-earners and working with secretaries/paralegals in the Department
  • Responsive and adaptive to changing needs and priorities

To strive for excellent and consistent service delivery across the team, we are introducing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that outline how the various tasks are to be carried out. This will allow us to distribute the workload across different members of the team. As new services are moved into the Legal Admin Unit, you may also be asked to develop SOP manuals and provide training to your peers.

Qualifications

  • Interest in law and a career in a law firm
  • Experience in an immigration practice
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise to work to deadlines
  • Ability to effectively manage own workload
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels, both written and spoken
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must demonstrate an ability to establish priorities and react quickly and professionally
  • Proactive and takes initiative
  • Good IT skills: thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Strong academic record, preferably a law degree
