Mishcon is investing in Artificial Intelligence (AI) to drive measurable improvements in how we deliver legal services and operate the business.
This includes improving internal efficiency, optimizing legal workflows, and developing client-facing products and services that generate revenue and strengthen client outcomes.
These initiatives span firmwide AI platforms and broader adoption.
Reporting to the AI and Innovation Lead, you will own a portfolio of AI initiatives spanning internal productivity, legal workflow optimisation and selected client‑facing propositions.
You will work at the intersection of user need, business value, technology capability and responsible AI governance.
This is a product leadership role for someone who can identify high‑value problems, shape clear product bets, and take ideas from discovery through to adoption and measurable impact.
You will partner closely with legal teams, business services, engineering, data, security, procurement, risk and compliance, and external vendors to deliver AI solutions that are useful, trusted, safe and commercially meaningful.
Responsibilities
- Own the product strategy and roadmap for a defined portfolio of AI product capabilities and experiments, aligned to the firm’s AI strategy and priorities (efficiency, legal workflow optimisation, and client‑facing value).
- Translate business, client and practice needs into clear problem statements, product opportunities and prioritised outcomes.
Define success measures for your portfolio, including adoption, efficiency gains, quality improvement, risk reduction, client impact and commercial value.
- Shape investment cases and sequencing decisions, balancing near‑term wins with sustainable capability building and buy/partner decisions.
- Lead structured discovery with lawyers, knowledge teams, business services and where appropriate clients to identify problems worth solving and validate demand.
Work in tight collaboration with design, engineering, data/AI specialists and domain experts to test assumptions early (prototypes, pilots, controlled releases), then scale what works.
- Ensure products are designed around real behaviours and constraints, including confidentiality, matter context, quality expectations and change readiness.
- Work closely with engineering, data, design, security and architecture colleagues to deliver secure, reliable and scalable AI solutions.
Act as the product lead through the full lifecycle: discovery, prioritisation, design, delivery, launch, adoption, iteration and retirement where appropriate.
- Drive high‑quality product decisions by balancing user value, technical feasibility, operational readiness and risk.
- Partner with vendors where relevant, including product evaluation, onboarding, contract input, release review and ongoing performance management.
Manage suppliers and contracts for AI tooling and services, ensuring product changes/features are assessed appropriately before rollout.
- Ensure AI products and experiments are developed and deployed in line with the firm’s governance, risk and compliance requirements.
Complete an AIRA in advance of any AI pilot or trial, reflecting intended use, data handling and security during the trial, and update through onboarding/contracting to reflect the final contracted position.
- Partner with Risk & Compliance, Procurement, Security and other control functions to ensure appropriate assessment and oversight is in place before pilots, trials and production use.
- Embed responsible AI principles into product design and delivery, including clear intended use, guardrails, human oversight, monitoring and change control.
Ensure material changes in scope, supplier arrangements, use cases or risk profile are surfaced and managed appropriately.
- Identify and deliver AI‑enabled capabilities that improve client outcomes and support client‑facing propositions (including efficiency, insight and differentiated delivery).
Work with Business Development, practice leadership and product peers to shape where AI & innovation can create revenue opportunities and scalable services – while ensuring governance and contractual positions are fit for a law firm context (confidentiality, IP, supplier terms, liability).
Qualifications
- Essential: Significant experience delivering digital products as a Product Manager in a modern product organisation with a demonstrable record of shipping products that deliver measurable outcomes.
- Experience in legal services, professional services or another regulated environment.
- Strong product craft across discovery, prioritisation, roadmap planning, iterative delivery, launch, adoption and lifecycle management.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to work credibly with senior professionals and subject‑matter experts.
- Working knowledge of AI/automation products and the practical constraints of deploying them in real‑world organisations (data quality, adoption, safety, and operational readiness).
- Ability to structure ambiguous problems, make sound trade‑offs and communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
- Experience partnering with engineering/data/security teams to deliver secure, reliable products.
- Desirable: Experience launching or scaling generative AI tools in production environments with strong governance requirements.
- Experience shaping product adoption and enablement strategies in complex organisations with diverse user groups.
- Familiarity with AI governance expectations and risk controls, including AI literacy/training considerations and broader regulatory context (e. g., EU AI Act awareness).
- Experience owning vendor relationships for AI tooling and navigating supplier terms relevant to confidentiality and IP.
- Experience shaping adoption frameworks across business operations (e. g., cross‑functional task forces, single backlog of use cases, rollout and training frameworks).
