Job Description:
The Private Wealth & Tax group works with a diverse range of institutions, companies, and high net-worth individuals, managing and protecting their assets in a tax-efficient manner.
Many clients are international, with interests across various jurisdictions and sectors. They include professional fiduciaries and private trustees, both in the UK and major international financial centers. Many are not residents or domiciled in the UK. Their tax issues are complex, but their main goal remains the preservation of wealth for their families and philanthropic efforts.
Our clients seek to comply with UK and international tax obligations while maximizing tax reliefs, preserving privacy, protecting assets, and safeguarding reputation and family values. We provide tailored solutions to navigate these often conflicting objectives.
Based in London, Hong Kong, and Singapore, with lawyers qualified in multiple countries and experienced advising across Europe, the Middle East, the US, and Asia, we support clients on formation, administration, taxation, and governance of structures, collaborating with local and international advisers, bankers, and family offices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The role involves advising on UK aspects of US/UK and international tax, trusts, asset protection structuring, and lifetime planning for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, families, and trustees.
Skills/Experience:
- 3-6 years PQE with experience in private wealth, specializing in personal tax, trusts, and international and domestic wealth planning.
- Experience at a reputable law firm in a personal tax practice.
- Strong knowledge of onshore and offshore tax, trusts, and asset structuring law in the UK and internationally.
- Good technical knowledge in tax and wealth planning with drafting skills.
- Membership of STEP is desirable.
- Experience with UK US/UK tax planning is a plus but not essential.
- Proactive, with good organizational and prioritization skills.
- High standards of care and professionalism.
- Ability to build relationships with clients, colleagues, and partners.
- Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, resilience, and ability to work independently and in teams.
- Flexible, responsible, and interested in business development activities.
Please note this job profile is a summary; additional responsibilities may be assigned by your line manager.
