The Risk and Compliance team works in collaboration with the business to ensure best practice across the Firm, effectively managing all aspects of regulation surrounding the efficient running of our Firm.
This role sits within the General Counsel team and plays a critical role in providing legal advice and guidance both within the department and more broadly across the MDR Group. It will work closely with the General Counsel and offers a clear career path for the right candidate.
As an experienced member, you will regularly interface with key stakeholders across the business, including Partners, Lawyers, and leaders of operational and consultancy businesses. The role is highly visible, requiring strong relationship building and trusted advisory skills.
Duties & Responsibilities- Work with the GC/COLP on non‑contentious general legal risk issues, leading where appropriate.
- Manage and review commercial and client‑related contracts and terms of business with firm stakeholders.
- Act as a trusted legal advisor on data protection and technology risk, collaborating with R&C and data protection teams.
- Take a proactive mindset towards regulatory changes, assessing impacts and enacting amendments as needed.
- Prepare and deliver regulatory training within the Department and across the Firm to promote compliance.
- Support team members with learning and professional development, and take line management responsibilities where appropriate.
- Act as a role model and mentor for junior team members, providing training and support on ad‑hoc projects.
- Relevant compliance experience in a UK law firm, financial institution or regulator.
- Qualified lawyer.
- Experience using Intapp and knowledge of conflicts of interest is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, drafting and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage a diverse workload, work proactively, remain calm under pressure, and influence senior stakeholders.
- Proactive, resilient, flexible and agile in approaching work and fostering collaboration with the General Counsel.
