Our Technology team continues to go from strength to strength, playing a vital role in firm-wide innovation and strategy. Far from being a support function, Technology is integral to the firm's growth agenda, backed by strong leadership engagement and sustained investment.

As a Solution Architect, you will play a critical role in designing and delivering technology solutions that meet business needs while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards and principles. Reporting directly to the Head of Architecture, you will collaborate with cross-domain architects and subject matter experts to ensure solutions are fit for purpose, scalable, and aligned with business objectives and industry best practices. You will translate business requirements into technical designs, define solution patterns, and provide architectural oversight across projects and programmes. Working closely with domain architects, product teams, delivery managers, and engineering teams, you will ensure that solutions are designed for integration, supportability, and operational sustainability—bridging the gap between strategic architecture and practical implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Translate business requirements into technical solution designs aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
  • Create solution architecture documents including high-level designs (HLD), low-level designs (LLD), and integration specifications.
  • Work hands‑on with delivery teams to guide implementation and resolve technical challenges.
  • Conduct architecture reviews for projects and change requests, validating alignment with EA standards.
  • Design end-to-end integration solutions across Mishcon's application estate (Aderant, iManage, Intapp, HubSpot).
  • Define API contracts, message schemas, and integration patterns for system connectivity.
  • Architect data flows ensuring compliance with client walls, data classification, and security policies.
  • Evaluate technology options and provide recommendations for build vs buy decisions.
  • Conduct proof of concepts (POCs) and technical spikes to validate architectural approaches.
  • Define and validate non‑functional requirements (NFRs) including performance, security, and availability.
  • Collaborate with Domain Architects (Data, Platform, Security, Product) to ensure solution alignment.
  • Create and maintain solution architecture documentation in the architecture repository (Ardoq).
  • Produce architectural decision records (ADRs) capturing key decisions and rationale.
  • Present solution designs for governance forums (TAB, CAB) for review and approval.
  • Mentor SMEs and technical leads on architecture patterns and best practices.

Skills

  • Experience in solution architecture, technical design, or senior development roles.
  • Strong experience designing integration solutions across enterprise applications.
  • Excellent knowledge of API design, messaging patterns, and integration architectures.
  • Experience with Azure services (App Services, Functions, Service Bus, APIM).
  • Knowledge of legal tech applications (Aderant, iManage, Intapp) is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of security architecture principles and data protection.
  • Experience with relational databases (SQL Server) and data integration patterns.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and modern delivery approaches.
  • Understanding non‑functional requirements (performance, scalability, and resilience).
  • Experience creating architecture documentation and technical specifications.
  • Ability to work with vendors and assess third‑party solutions.
  • Experience working in TOGAF or similar enterprise architecture frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage technical and business stakeholders.
  • Experience in legal, professional services, or regulated industries is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Azure Solutions Architect Associate/Expert certification
  • TOGAF 9 Certified or similar EA qualification
  • AWS Solutions Architect certification (desirable)
  • Experience with Ardoq, LeanIX, or similar EA tools
  • Agile/Scrum certifications (CSM, PSM)
  • ITIL Certification
