Overview
The Department
As a full-service corporate group, we represent companies, founders, management teams, wealth owners, venture capital funds, investors, and universities, each pioneers in their own field. We guide them through the start-up process, venture capital financings, mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, exits and listings on the public markets, giving insightful board-level and corporate governance advice borne of deep experience, each step of the way. We help our clients navigate not just the present, but the future; anticipating regulatory change, the impact of evolving technologies and the pressures of a dynamic landscape of culture, governance and innovation.
The Emerging Companies Group
We work with innovative companies, challengers and disrupters, particularly in the technology, life sciences and high-growth industries, to navigate the problems and opportunities they encounter throughout their business lifecycle. The Emerging Companies Group works on a variety of corporate transactions involving companies at all stages of their business lifecycle. We guide them through venture capital fundraisings, mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, insolvency, venture debt and exits. We also regularly advise investors (including venture capital funds) on their own investment activity as well as working with them to support their portfolio companies.
The London Office
In London we support the businesses that drive the innovation economy, and the entrepreneurs and private wealth that underpin them. We provide expertise in areas such as emerging companies, private clients, and commercial disputes, alongside specialised support in family, wills and tax. Our practice extends to resolving IP and brand disputes, corporate governance, real estate management and employment law. The candidate must be based in the UK or willing to relocate to the UK.
US Offering
Our US offering is a growing area that offers exciting opportunities for ambitious legal professionals. The successful candidate will have the chance to help shape the future of this practice, build their own client base, and take on significant responsibility. We encourage entrepreneurial thinking and provide the support needed to drive growth and innovation. Our client base includes numerous US companies and non-US companies and individuals looking to expand into the US, including navigating complexities such as setting up subsidiaries, executing Delaware flips, and raising investment in the US.
Duties And Responsibilities
The role will involve advising on a wide range of corporate transactions including mergers and acquisitions, venture capital investment, corporate re-organisations and debt financing arrangements. The successful candidate will be committed to developing their career within corporate law with a particular focus on helping UK companies expand into, and grow in, the United States, and will be able to demonstrate their passion for and experience in this area of law. Although the role will be based in London, the successful candidate will work with the wider team (in Cambridge and Oxford) often on nationally and internationally significant matters.
