The Team
Our Charities and Social Ventures team at Mishcon works with a wide range of impact-driven clients – from fast-moving, impactful start-ups to philanthropists with bold, innovative ideas and charities from 0 to over 350 years old, both local and global. We partner with our clients to help them deliver their strategic and operational plans, and ultimately, achieve a meaningful and lasting positive impact on society and the environment.
We advise our impact-driven clients on the full spectrum of legal and regulatory issues across their lifecycle, from design and establishment to governance, operational, transactional and regulatory matters, growth strategies, international expansion and long-term sustainability. We have a particular focus on innovative, complex, cross‑sector and cross‑border work.
Our team leads the firm's relationships with impact-driven clients and collaborates closely with specialist lawyers across other practice areas and jurisdictions throughout our full‑service firm, to seamlessly deliver fully integrated strategic and legal advice to these clients.

The Department
Our Charities and Social Ventures team is part of the Mishcon Private department, which comprises tax and wealth planning, property, art, reputation and immigration specialists alongside litigators who are highly experienced at dealing with complex multi‑jurisdictional cases.
Duties And Responsibilities
- To manage all client work allocated by the Partners and other fee earners within the Group and sometimes across the wider Department.
- To ensure that all client work is progressed in a timely fashion and that the client is kept regularly informed on progress and costs.
- To exercise high standards of client care in a professional and pleasant manner at all times.
- To demonstrate excellent written and interpersonal skills in drafting and presentation.
- To ensure the confidentiality and security of all of the Firm's client documentation and information.
- To demonstrate excellent organisational and prioritising skills to meet the demands of challenging and commercial internal and external clients.
- To demonstrate a willingness to support clients out of hours and on weekends (on occasion), providing urgent round‑the‑clock advice.
- To achieve agreed levels of billing and time recording.
- To maintain clear communication links with colleagues in the Firm.
- To ensure good working relationships with colleagues, clients and external organisations.
- To take responsibility for and attend to self‑development.
- To take a keen interest in undertaking business development activities both internally and externally.
Skills/Experience
- Ideally 1‑3 years of PQE.
- Strong academics.
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills and drafting skills.
- Excellent team player.
- Confident working with a wide range of client types.

We welcome candidates with a background in a legal practice area outside of charity law. For such candidates, we would also be looking for evidence of a strong interest in the charity and wider impact sector, and of your ability to acquire new knowledge and skills quickly and on the job.
