Our Employment team is one of the largest in the country and is highly regarded, ranked Band 1 in Chambers & Partners for Employment (Employer, Senior Executives, and Employment High Court work) and Tier 1 in Legal 500 for Employer and Senior Executives. The team is dynamic, busy, and known for its collaborative and supportive culture, offering a wide variety of interesting and high-profile projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the team with production and distribution of content relating to the new Employment Rights Act (e.g., maintaining web pages, distributing client updates, coordinating with fee‑earners to gather content)
- Conduct research to support pitches, campaigns, industry conferences, and client initiatives
- Maintain and update client, event, and contact lists
- Track BD activity and outcomes for reporting purposes
- Coordinate logistics for events and training programmes (room bookings, set‑up, catering, AV support)
- Prepare event materials (badges, handouts, attendee lists)
- Manage attendee communications and registrations
- Support on‑site delivery and troubleshooting during events
- Coordinate with fee‑earners to obtain presentations and materials
- Assist with the preparation and collation of pitch documents
- Schedule meetings and follow‑ups related to BD activity
- Support the production and distribution of internal and external newsletters, articles, and podcasts
- Assist with directory and award submissions and related research
- Handle day‑to‑day requests from the team
- Manage administrative aspects of education initiatives and sector programmes
- Provide overflow support to both the BD Manager and Head of Business Development
Skills/Experience
- Exceptionally organised, with strong attention to detail
- Proactive and willing to get involved in a wide range of tasks (“hands‑on” approach)
- Team player with a collaborative mindset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships at all levels
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, busy environment
- Able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively
- Energetic, enthusiastic, and eager to learn
- No previous BD experience required, but an interest in marketing and business development is essential
- Ideally a graduate, or equivalent, with a keen interest in developing a career in this area
