The Department
For many law firms, litigation is predominantly a support function for their transactional teams. For us, dispute resolution is at the heart of our firm. We are one of the largest litigation teams in London with over 300 litigators.
Unusually, for a firm of our size, we remain largely conflict free and able to act against banks and other financial institutions, the 'big four' accountancy, consulting and audit firms and all major insurers. We act for all manner of businesses, ranging from start-ups to multinational corporations. Our leadership of the International Fraud Group and membership of LegalLink gives us reach far beyond London, Singapore and Hong Kong.
Our Commercial Litigation lawyers are at the heart of our disputes team. We recognise that litigation is a distraction for our clients. We work to resolve their commercial disputes quickly and cost effectively so that they can get back to running their businesses as soon as possible. Our advice is always risk based and commercial.
Our Commercial Litigation team was recognised at The Lawyer Awards 2024, winning both Litigation Team of the Year and Competition & Regulatory team of the Year as well as Commercial Litigation Team of the Year at the Legal Business Awards 2024 and the FT Innovative Lawyers Europe Award 2024.
Our in-house team of eDiscovery experts, MDR Discover , reduces the cost and complexity of large-scale document management and disclosure exercises. We invite legal start-ups into our incubator MDR LAB , allowing us to experience the next generation of litigation tools as they are developed.
Our Cyber-Security specialist team forms a critical part of our investigatory capability, allowing us to partner with clients throughout the whole investigation process; from discovery, through to managing any media issues that arise in the aftermath.
We have excellent links to litigation funders and have experience of co-ordinating group litigation claims and shareholder actions, allowing corporate entities to leverage claims as a potential asset.
We recognise that each dispute requires a bespoke solution. When we litigate, we are known for our assertive style. Our Commercial litigation team is regularly involved in cutting edge high value disputes, many of which have an international element, and which include sectors such as Asset & film finance, Betting & gaming, Aviation, Construction, Hardware & software, Oil and gas, Partnership & shareholder disputes, Professional negligence, Sanctions/state immunity, Securities litigation, Shipping and international trade and Telecommunications & technology.
