We are looking for an experienced Tech Swing with strong all-round technical knowledge and particular strength in Sound. The role will support the wider technical team and provide cover for the Sound No. 2 track as required. The successful candidate will have a calm and practical approach to technical troubleshooting and the ability to work flexibly in high-pressure environments.

Contract Details:
- £925 per week (£800 per week for rehearsals)
- Contract: Fixed Term SOLT/BECTU
- Contract Dates: 6 July – 28 September 2026 (exact dates TBC)

Duties and Responsibilities:
- To be a proactive member of the Technical team and support the wider team;
- Assisting the technical teams with the running of the production and rehearsals, maintenance, supporting the get-in and get out where required and working with venue crew;
- Learning and covering technical tracks as required, with particular focus on the Sound No. 2 track;
- Supporting the Sound No. 1 and Sound No. 2 with radio mics, fitting, checks, maintenance, plotting, line-by-line requirements and troubleshooting;
- Assisting with the preparation, maintenance and safe storage of technical and sound equipment during rehearsals, tech and performances;
- Deputising for the Technical Stage Supervisor and Sound No. 2;
- Supporting pre-show checks, resets, show calls and post-show duties as instructed;
- Working collaboratively with all other departments, including the theatre technical team, to ensure the smooth running of the production and rehearsals;
- Ensuring all technical equipment and backstage areas are kept in a tidy and secure manner;
- Maintaining accurate paperwork for the tracks covered as required;
- Any other reasonable duty that would normally fall within the remit of a Tech Swing based on industry norms and practice.
Person Specification:
- Demonstrable professional experience working in a similar technical role in the West End or on tour;
- Strong all-round technical knowledge, especially within Sound, performer flying and technically complex productions;
- Previous experience covering a Sound No. 2 track or supporting a sound department on a production of similar scale;
- Experience with radio mics, sound checks, maintenance and backstage sound practice;
- A proactive and flexible attitude;
- Previous experience working on a new production is desirable;
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with excellent attention to detail;
- The ability to work under pressure and effectively prioritise;
- Previous experience of working within a team;
- The ability to work well with actors and creative teams;
- Awareness of current Health & Safety legislation;
- Awareness of current SOLT/BECTU union agreements.
