Miryco have been exclusively selected to partner with an Insurance & Reinsurance Advisory firm to hire a Finance Director, Advisory & Analytics. This is a founder-led insurance and reinsurance advisory seeking a commercial finance / analytics leader to work with Boards, management teams, actuarial teams and investors on high-impact assignments across the insurance sector. This is a rare opportunity for someone who wants to move beyond traditional reporting work into strategic decision support, hands-on commercial finance (MI, forecasting, controls, planning) and decision-grade analytics - while keeping the variety and intellectual pace of consulting. The role offers breadth with continuity: you’ll help deliver senior advisory work today, and, over time, can broaden into a wider finance leadership remit as the business grows.

What you’ll do

  • You will lead delivery across two pillars, with additional exposure as the work expands.
  • Translate complex financial/actuarial/capital information into clear, decision-useful insight for Boards and senior stakeholders.
  • Build and run MI, performance dashboards, forecasts and scenario analyses that drive real decisions.
  • Translate actuarial and financial insight into commercial conclusions for clients (capital strategy and deployment, performance, profitability, reserve / pricing implications).
  • Develop clear views of portfolio performance and drivers (loss ratio, capital attribution, expense dynamics, mix).
  • Partner with actuarial and underwriting stakeholders where relevant, supporting business-facing discussions.
  • Prepare decision papers and stakeholder packs (commercial narrative + financial analysis) for senior conversations.

Finance leadership & operating model

  • Design and implement practical finance operating models: close, controls, reporting packs, and governance.
  • Own planning and financial management routines (budgeting, forecasting discipline, cashflow visibility), with appropriate support.
  • Develop business cases, options analysis and KPI frameworks to support strategy and operating model changes.
  • Oversee core commercial finance processes (including billing/invoicing, cash collection discipline and supplier payments), with appropriate support.
  • Create scalable internal reporting and performance management as the business grows (decision-ready MI and KPIs, including utilisation/margin tracking where relevant), with strong governance processes.

As the work evolves (optional / where relevant)

  • Support capital and transaction-related projects (e.g., portfolio solutions, third-party capital analysis, transaction economics).
  • Contribute to building scalable reporting, governance and finance capability as the advisory grows.

Who this is for

  • You are likely a commercial finance leader or qualified actuary (or equivalent experience), with 10+ years’ relevant experience.
  • Strong insurance / reinsurance knowledge (London market experience a plus).
  • Comfortable working directly with senior stakeholders and owning outputs end-to-end.
  • Able to turn analysis into decisions, and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Keen to be closer to commercial decision-making rather than purely technical work.
  • Motivated by variety, autonomy and building something with a long runway.
  • Variety like consulting, but with longer-term ownership and continuity.
  • A role that can grow into broader leadership as the business expands.
  • The chance to work across finance, analytics and strategy - without being boxed into a traditional lane.

What we offer

  • Founder-led environment with direct access to senior decision-making.
  • High trust, high autonomy and meaningful breadth of work.
  • Competitive package with growth potential as responsibilities expand.

Please note, our client is unable to offer sponsorship for this opportunity. Finally, should you not be contacted within twenty working days of submitting your application, then unfortunately you have not been shortlisted for the opportunity. We will, however, be in touch should there be any other opportunities of potential interest that are suiting to your skills.
