About the role
In this pivotal role you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the success of our manufacturing facility and capability by leading, managing, and shaping the production department to effectively support the ramp up to a high volume aircraft interiors manufacturing facility and new production introduction using lean methodology. This is a great opportunity to take ownership of a department at a key stage of growth, with the autonomy to transform and upscale the function to meet increasing demand.
YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and develop the Production function through a critical growth phase, taking ownership of scaling operations to support the ramp-up to a high volume manufacturing environment.
- Take full ownership of the department and drive its evolution, involving upscaling both the team and departmental functions, building capacity, improving workflows, and positioning the department for future success.
- Manage the transition to high-volume production, ensuring the facility is prepared to meet current and future volume requirements.
- Lead from the front, exemplifying dedication and accountability. Inspire and motivate the production team to achieve targets and meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Implement lean principles and lean daily management to optimize production processes, eliminate waste, and improve efficiency.
- Implement visual factory methodologies including 5S, Day by Hours and R.A.G status.
- Oversee the seamless introduction of new products into the manufacturing process, ensuring manufacturing and assembly capabilities at launch.
- Own quality compliance by ensuring all necessary procedures are followed.
- Maintain the correct level of SQCDP performance across all production.
- Ensure NPI and NPD projects are adequately resourced and manufacturing represented in programmes to ensure successful and timely completion of milestones.
- Develop and refine the operational structure to support business needs and drive continuous improvement and execute strategic plans.
- Continuously seek innovative solutions to enhance production efficiency and quality.
- Adhere to the highest ethical standards in all operations and decision-making processes.
- Ensure adherence to ERP / MRP / MES systems requirements and data accuracy.
- Provide relevant management reporting information and control of discretional budget.
About you
To help Mirus continue our journey of growth, you will bring your expertise within a production capacity, a passion for problem solving and drive for operational excellence along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:
- Engineering biased HNC / HND or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrable experience in leading a demanding serial production manufacturing environment.
- Experience gained from within either aircraft OEM or automotive, or First Tier supply companies or similar.
- Demonstrable experience implementing and/or working in a Lean environment and use of lean tools and methodology.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve production issues using structured problem solving techniques.
- Understanding of departmental budget management.
- Understanding of business ERP and MRP scheduling systems.
Desirable:
- Qualified to degree level.
- POA experience and therefore knowledgeable of the quality and procedural requirements for the aviation interiors industry.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher.
- IOSH - Managing safety or higher.
- Has previously assumed the responsibility as nominated EASA Form 4 – POA holder.

Hours may vary with changing workloads and demands, so employee must be flexible and able to work hours as required to support the success of their department. This position may require travel and the individual must hold a current passport and be willing to undertake short and long haul travel on an as required basis. Eligible to work in the UK and ability to work flexible hours as required.
