About the role
We are seeking a highly experienced and commercially astute Finance Director to join our senior leadership team. This pivotal role will guide the company’s financial strategy, ensure robust financial governance, and provide actionable insight to drive growth. The Finance Director will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and work closely with the Executive Team and shareholders to shape and deliver the company’s strategic and financial objectives. The successful candidate will ideally have a background in manufacturing, engineering, or aerospace, and proven experience leading a business through an Initial Public Offering (IPO) or similar corporate finance event. Experience operating in an international context would be a strong advantage.
In your role as our Finance Director, you will:
- Report directly to the CEO and work in partnership with the Executive Team to define and deliver the company’s strategic financial direction.
- Provide expert financial guidance and commercial insight to support business growth, drive profitability, and achieve our goals as defined in our business plan.
- Partner with Directors to evaluate business opportunities, capital investments, and cost improvement initiatives, tracking and reporting our progress.
- Lead and guide on all financial aspects of IPO preparation, or similar, ensuring compliance and investor confidence.
- Manage and develop the finance team to deliver accurate, timely, and insightful financial information across the business.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, R&D claims, and cashflow management, ensuring strong financial control and liquidity.
- Support the development of our ERP / MRP systems, ensuring robust systems fit for purpose.
- Maintain full responsibility for statutory accounts, financial reporting, audit, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with shareholders, investors, auditors, banks, and key external stakeholders.
- Support and challenge the CEO and senior leadership team with financial analysis and performance insight to inform key decisions.
- Translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights for non-financial colleagues.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, processes, and reporting to support Mirus as we grow.

- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
- Significant post‑qualification experience in a senior finance leadership role.

- Strong understanding of financial compliance, audit and governance requirements.
- Experience in R&D tax credits, grants, or government funding schemes.

- Excellent knowledge of ERP systems, financial modelling, and data‑driven decision‑making.
- Deep understanding of cost control, pricing strategy, and supply chain financials in an engineering context.
- Ability to interpret data and communicate financial information clearly.
