Are you a hands-on manufacturing engineer (junior or recently graduated) looking to take that next step and work on technically complex, high-quality products where you have real influence over how production and assembly lines are designed and improved, with the opportunity to shape manufacturing capability? We are seeking a motivated Manufacturing Engineer to support the development, industrialisation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes for advanced aircraft seating products. The role will have a strong focus on composite materials and associated manufacturing processes such as compression moulding using heated hydraulic presses.

As our Manufacturing Engineer, you will support the design, development, and optimisation of production and assembly lines for all our aircraft seating programmes for new and existing products as well supporting the day-to-day activities and running of our assembly production line. Working closely with Design Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Production teams, you will ensure efficient, repeatable, and high-quality manufacturing processes are developed and maintained.

In your role as our Manufacturing Engineer, you will:

  • Provide day-to-day engineering support to the production environment
  • Develop, improve, and optimise manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and repeatability
  • Support the manufacture of carbon fibre components
  • Assist in compression moulding processes, including operation and optimisation of heated hydraulic presses
  • Ensure correct handling, storage, and preparation of composite materials in line with process requirements
  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Support the design and implementation of tooling, jigs, and fixtures
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives (lean manufacturing, waste reduction, efficiency improvements)
  • Support root cause analysis and problem-solving for production issues
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, quality, and regulatory standards
  • Create and maintain work instructions and manufacturing documentation
  • Collaborate closely with design, quality, and production teams to ensure manufacturability and smooth production flow

To help Mirus continue our journey of growth, you will bring your expertise within a manufacturing engineering capacity, a passion for innovation, problem-solving abilities and drive for operational excellence along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:

  • Technical experience in Manufacturing Engineering, with a professional qualification (university degree) and/or background in engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical) or a relevant (IMechE) or (IET) qualification / Apprenticeship or equivalent vocational training.
  • Understanding of carbon fibre composites, particularly prepreg systems
  • Basic knowledge of compression moulding processes, ideally using heated hydraulic presses
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Awareness of manufacturing process control and quality requirements
  • Understanding of tooling, layup techniques, and manufacturing principles
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement concepts
  • Experience in aerospace or other regulated manufacturing environments
  • Experience working with composite manufacturing processes in industry
  • Knowledge of composite defect modes and inspection techniques
  • Awareness of DFM/A (Design for Manufacture and Assembly) principles
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems or manufacturing software
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to work across engineering and production teams
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
