An exciting career opportunity has arisen for a Field Service Engineer to join our highly successful global company based in the Cheshire area.
The talented individual we are seeking will provide support for installed radiological protection instruments (IRPI) Non-Destructive Assay and spectroscopy equipment. The work will involve remote technical support and carrying out customer visits to complete installation, commissioning, calibration, routine testing and repairs.
As a Field Service Engineer, you will require significant ability to operate, service, calibrate and repair sophisticated software and systems. You will be accountable for all areas of safety, quality, security and environmental requirements as well as day to day completion of work tasks. The role will require regular and close interaction with other members of the UK Services team locally, nationally and globally.
This role is mainly on a customer site based in Cheshire and belongs to the Technologies Group, EMEA/ APAC reporting to the Seascale Site/Technical Team Leader.
Travel to various sites (UK and occasionally abroad) will be required.

Key Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of a Field Service Engineer include, but are not limited to:
- Field Service, Technical Support, troubleshooting to support our customers.
- Inspection, calibration, test and repair of nuclear related electronic assemblies.
- Liaise at all levels and promote the services of the company’s service and support activities.
- Maintain accurate records where necessary to comply with the requirements of the company’s QHSE registrations.
- Ability to work unsupervised or as part of either a small team or a multi-disciplinary team.
- Able to deal with and understand technically complex problems.
- Uphold the Company’s core values of Integrity, Commitment, Accountability Respect and Exploration.
The Person
The key skills and qualities of a Field Service Engineer are:
- Recognised engineering apprenticeship with a minimum ONC Electronics, or equivalent qualification is required.
- Working knowledge of radiation measurement techniques and instruments, including gamma spectroscopy an advantage but training will be provided.
- Experience of working on nuclear licensed sites, Sellafield, EDF, MAGNOX, Dounreay would be an advantage.
- High work standards – qualitatively, demonstrates initiative and motivation.
- Essential to be British or EU passport holder as security clearance will be required for this post.
- Native English speaker.
- Good interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Potential for undergoing security vetting to SC level.
