This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge radiometric measurement systems and applications that support decommissioning, waste management and nuclear operations across the UK and internationally.
As part of our specialist Physics Team, you will contribute to the design and build of bespoke non-destructive assay (NDA) and radiometric measurement systems for customers operating in the nuclear sector. You will also support measurement services and consultancy projects, applying your expertise to solve complex technical challenges. Working within multi-disciplinary project teams, you may take on the role of Technical Lead, providing technical oversight and ensuring project requirements are successfully delivered.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist physics expertise across customer projects and technical programmes
- Contribute to the design, development, commissioning and calibration of radiometric assay systems
- Produce technical documentation, analysis reports, safety documentation and other project deliverables
- Support tender submissions, proposals and customer-facing technical activities
- Participate in the development of innovative radiometric techniques and technologies
- Present technical information at customer meetings, conferences and industry events
Skills & Experience
- A degree in Physics, Applied Physics or a related discipline
- Knowledge of radiation measurement techniques and radiometric analysis
- Experience solving technical measurement challenges using laboratory equipment
- Strong analytical skills, including experience with numerical analysis, programming and data handling
- Excellent communication, organisational and team-working abilities
- Eligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC) and, where required, DV clearance
- Radiation transport modelling using tools such as MCNP
- Nuclear reactor physics, fuel cycle knowledge or radioactive waste management
- Experience working on nuclear licensed sites
