We need a volunteer who can, in their own time, find companies to promote our projects to their staff through Payroll Giving to encourage donations and interest in our work. We want to build a portfolio of supporters and expand our base in the UK.

The impact of this role is significant: the money and awareness you raise will help save and enhance many lives abroad by giving people a new start in difficult circumstances.

What are we looking for?

You will need to be friendly, creative, innovative and tenacious with some knowledge of how business works. Experience of Payroll Giving would be an advantage, but if you are outgoing and intelligent you will learn quickly. It will help if you are organised and can structure your time while building a business database of contacts. Experience in the following skills would be useful:

  • Copywriting / Journalism
  • Marketing strategy
  • Social media marketing
  • Database / CRM development
  • Business development / Sales

What will you be doing?

Payroll Giving, also known as Workplace Giving or Give As You Earn (GAYE), is a scheme for UK taxpayers to donate money to UK registered charities directly from their gross pay. The donations are taken from the pay before income tax is applied, making it a tax-effective way to give.

If you think you could sell our organisation, please get in touch. Your role would be to research, contact, and record the HR departments of companies that want to offer their employees the opportunity to donate to our campaigns via their salaries. Should employees wish to form volunteer groups within the companies, you have the opportunity to lead and assist the formation.

Payroll Giving (Give As You Earn) is a government-backed initiative that makes charitable donations easy and efficient for both employees and employers. By donating directly from their gross salary, employees can support their favourite causes while taking advantage of tax savings.

With our guidance — but using your own initiative — you will build up contacts and set up simple systems to make the role work. You will build up a database of businesses/organisations and contact their HR departments/CEOs to "sell" our organisation and latest project. You will report directly to me and, at first, consult at each stage until we both feel confident in the system you wish to create. We will have regular Teams meetings as required. You will be supported by leaflets, our website and our team; please join us.
