The Role
As a Data Engineer, you'll be responsible for building and maintaining scalable, reliable data solutions that turn complex and disparate data into trusted, accessible information for the wider business.
Working closely with data, analytics, and business stakeholders, you'll design and develop data pipelines, integration processes, and data products that support critical reporting, operational, and financial requirements.
This role offers exposure to modern cloud technologies, large-scale datasets, and the opportunity to help shape the future of the organisation's data platform.
What You'll Be Doing
- Develop, maintain, and optimise data pipelines and data models
- Design and build ETL/ELT processes integrating data from multiple sources
- Create high-quality, governed datasets to support business reporting and analytics
- Develop solutions using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, and Azure Service Bus
- Design and maintain APIs that support secure and scalable data access
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise data platform performance
- Support Data Mesh principles and domain-led data ownership
- Work closely with stakeholders across finance, underwriting, claims, analytics, and technology teams
- Contribute to Agile delivery, CI/CD, and DevOps best practices
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years' experience in Data Engineering
- At least 2 years' experience within insurance, broking, MGA, carrier, or Lloyd's markets
- Strong experience with Microsoft Fabric or Azure Synapse
- Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, and Azure Service Bus
- Advanced SQL skills with experience developing and optimising complex queries
- Python and/or PySpark experience
- Experience designing APIs and integration solutions
- Strong understanding of data modelling and data warehousing concepts
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders alike
