We’re looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer to join an exciting re‑insurance company, playing a key role driving the business toward becoming a truly data‑driven organisation. Reporting to the UK/EUR CEO with a matrix line to the Head of Data, this role will suit someone who’s confident designing and delivering modern BI solutions, building strong business partnerships, and using data to power strategic decision‑making across the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Designing, developing, and maintaining data management and visualisation solutions that enable smarter, faster decision‑making.
- Building and maintaining reporting and data layers on top of the Azure Cloud data warehouse to drive consistency across business reporting.
- Partnering with business teams and IT to deliver accurate, meaningful management information that reflects real business performance.
- Using your understanding of insurance data to build solutions that are fit for purpose and tailored to business needs.
- Enhancing automation across the business, helping teams streamline processes and reduce manual effort.
- Supporting ad‑hoc data projects and special initiatives as needed.
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and governance standards, including consumer duty, financial crime, and prudent management requirements.
Qualifications
- Strong SQL experience, with additional skills in Power BI (essential) and ideally some exposure to R, Python, DAX or similar languages.
- Experience working in cloud‑based data environments, ideally Azure.
- A background in insurance or financial services would be highly beneficial.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder skills — able to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
- A sharp eye for detail, strong analytical ability, and a passion for problem‑solving.
- A proactive, results‑driven approach — able to work independently and prioritise effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Degree in Computer Science, Maths, Actuarial Science, or a related quantitative field.
