Technical Officer (Equipment and Adaptations Service)

Salary: From Β£37,035 – Β£41,511 per year

Hours: Full-time; 36.66 hours per week (Monday – Friday)

Contract: Permanent

Location: Based at The Link Centre, 140 Union Street, Oldham, OL1 1DZ

Job Purpose: We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Equipment and Adaptations Service , which helps support and enhance the lives of people aiming to maintain as independent a lifestyle as possible while living safely at home. Equipment and adaptations are provided based on individual assessed needs and situations.

We seek an empathetic person with good knowledge of building structures, specifications, materials, and costs. Experience in CAD drawing and using a drawing board to produce detailed layouts and working plans is essential. You will be responsible for completing all necessary grant paperwork, including means test information to determine funding eligibility. You will develop a close working relationship with the Community Occupational Therapy Team, providing construction and design advice for residential adaptations.

You should understand GDPR requirements and restrictions related to record keeping. A passion for delivering high-quality, customer-focused services and a willingness to develop your skills to help us improve are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Measuring, designing, and preparing working plans for property adaptations, including submitting planning and building regulation applications where necessary.
  • Completing Disabled Facilities Grant paperwork with clients and obtaining landlord permission as needed.
  • Preparing specifications of work and requesting quotations for building works and materials.
  • Answering queries professionally and helpfully, ensuring clients and colleagues understand proposed layouts and processes.
