We are seeking a talented research analyst to join our financial services team. This role involves writing on various consumer finance topics and is suitable for candidates experienced in generating insights from diverse sources, with excellent writing and presentation skills. Experience in the financial services industry or related sectors (e.g., economics) is advantageous but not mandatory.

The successful candidate will collaborate with a team of market analysts, sharing ideas and insights, while taking ownership of specific financial services reports. Responsibilities include researching, report writing, client query management, and collaboration with Mintel’s statisticians, sales, marketing, and PR teams.

This role focuses on transforming data and industry research into actionable insights and presenting them compellingly. Ideal analysts are curious, interested in people and motivations, and skilled at combining data, trade research, and industry knowledge to produce new insights. They are also effective communicators, engaging clients through reports, conversations, and presentations.

Responsibilities

  1. Research and report writing: Utilize various research tools, including primary and secondary sources, along with quantitative and qualitative consumer research, to produce insightful reports on financial services markets.
  2. Insight generation: Convert consumer research, market data, and industry knowledge into actionable insights for reports and client interactions.
  3. Client and industry relationship building: Engage with clients ranging from small marketing agencies to major financial service providers. Gather industry insights through trade interviews and facilitate mutual understanding.
  4. Collaboration with Mintel teams: Maintain regular contact with colleagues across departments, including global analysts, research services, sales, and marketing teams.

Ideal candidate profile:

  • Strong communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in working with data sets to craft narratives.
  • Able to derive commercial insights from varied data sources.
  • Background in consumer research and understanding consumer behavior.
  • Excellent organizational skills and responsibility for key publishing stages.
  • Confident in discussing the consumer financial sector with clients and internal teams.
