London, United Kingdom This principal analyst role will be a thought leader for Mintel in the field of specialist nutrition, focusing particularly on infant and maternal nutrition, sports/performance nutrition, foods for special medical purposes, foods for special diets and weight management, and vitamins/supplement sectors . This role will enhance our positioning through the delivery of expert insight and exceptional client service globally. Our analysts are tasked with challenging our clients’ ideas and thinking by providing fresh insight and analysis with impact, building upon our proprietary data and analysis. This position is based in London with some potential travel across Europe, the Americas and Asia-Pacific region. What you will be doing: Delivering insight and continually interacting with food, drink and healthcare industry companies around the world to demonstrate Mintel’s expertise and capabilities in the specialist nutrition field. [50% of your time] Client interaction and engagement through presentations, webinars, client events etc. in support of commercial teams. Delivery of insights for clients in the food, drink and healthcare industries and related ingredient and supplier sectors, as well as retailers. Work alongside global account directors to help secure new clients including helping to develop content presented in pitches. Creation of insight content on specialist nutrition trends and opportunities, for publishing on Mintel’s food, drink and healthcare subscription platforms. [30% of your time] Write bold and forward looking analysis focusing on global trends in nutrition and health across food, drink, vitamins/supplements and related markets. Work with the rest of the Food Science team on content plans and development initiatives. Collaborate with other content teams (eg food & drink, beauty & personal care) to feed expertise into their published content where relevant. Represent Mintel as an industry expert at tradeshows and with the press. [15% of your time] Present at tradeshows, conferences and professional events in support of the wider food and drink marketing effort. Act as a spokesperson for Mintel on nutrition topics and, where required, respond to journalists and other media requests. Working with internal stakeholders to continue enhancing and promoting Mintel’s research offering and coverage of the specialist nutrition field. [5% of your time] Identify opportunities to better meet clients’ needs through research product enhancements. Work with the new product tracking coverage team to ensure we pick up the latest innovations in this field and from the right channels and markets. Help monitor competitor offerings in this area and be involved in initiatives to address any perceived areas of weakness. Work with partner organisations to help develop Mintel’s positioning and product offering. What We Are Looking For: Minimum of 4 years of experience of the specialist nutrition/dietetic field, gained from working in or with the food and drink industry. A background and relevant qualification in pharmacology/healthcare/dietetics. Able to confidently deliver high quality presentations to sometimes tight deadlines and to demanding, and often large, audiences. Someone with their finger on the pulse of the latest cutting edge developments and technologies in the health and nutrition space. International market experience is an advantage – this is a global role so the candidate will be required to understand consumer needs and trends across global markets and to work with clients in each of Mintel’s key regions: EMEA, Americas and APAC. Technical and creative writing, ability to write concise and insightful analysis. A talent for seeing the patterns behind data and understanding what these patterns might mean for consumers and the companies serving those consumers. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively multitask in a fast-paced environment. Self-starter capable of maintaining an efficient work schedule with minimal supervision. Must have a positive attitude and be energetic. Experience with new product development and consumer research and trends.
