Mintel is currently looking for a DevOps Engineer I to join our Global Infrastructure team. The Global Infrastructure team manages servers and networks in Data Centers and AWS. We are the world's leading market intelligence agency, and technology underpins our success. We help our clients understand consumers and consumer markets and aspire to provide the market intelligence behind every great business decision. Our technology supports the research, analysis, and operations work of Mintel staff and helps us deliver data, insight and opinion in a compelling way to our clients across the globe.
We are looking for a DevOps Engineer I to work with Mintel’s Infrastructure team with focus on the operations aspect of the team. Your role will ensure our Infrastructure services run efficiently and resilient and maintain our existing on-premises applications in the data centers and as well our cloud environment services in its best shape. You will be working along with existing Infrastructure engineers on the Operations team and collaborating daily with our Global Infrastructure team to support existing infrastructure On-Premise and in the AWS including Kubernetes service EKS. Ensure our offices, data centers and cloud-based SaaS/IaaS components operate with minimal downtime. Monitor vendor scheduled maintenance which will affect internal and external infrastructure operations.
What You Will Do:
- Review CI/CD merge requests from the infrastructure team and Developers and apply to (DEV, QA, PROD) environments.
- Support developers with requests related to DNS, CDN property configurations, on-premise and AWS permissions.
- Decommission virtual machines, hardware and AWS services in accordance with our documentation process.
- Respond to our monitoring systems alerts and dive into mitigating problems with help of observability tools: Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana, Loki.
- Respond to incidents and help find root cause analysis. Implement suggested action from post-incident reviews.
- Investigate and resolve alerts issues with the help of our runbooks and documentation.
- When working on Jira cases, keep track of the progress, link merge requests and comments. Update documentation and runbooks accordingly.
- Participate in sprint reviews, daily stand-ups and retrospective meetings.
- Schedule virtual machines or hypervisors for maintenance with developers and product owners and carry on maintenance tasks.
- Maintain our central configuration repository by editing, adding, and removing roles. Ensure systems run healthy once the configuration is applied.
What are we looking for:
- 1-3 years of relevant professional experience with Unix/Linux systems, cloud infrastructure (AWS).
- A passion for cloud-based solutions and DevOps principles and practices.
- Beginner experience with programming language such as Python or Bash.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Availability during business hours to respond to chat communications, emails and incidents.
- Familiarity with management of CentOS based operating systems.
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools, Terraform would be beneficial.
- Familiarity with Apache servers, basic database management, Docker.
- Self driven mindset to be curious and work independently when necessary.
