Most benefits companies sound identical. We'd like to stop. Same stock photo of a team high-fiving in a bright office. Same "empower your people to thrive" copy that could belong to any of a dozen competitors. Same vague promise about retention, attraction, or productivity - repeated everywhere, proven nowhere.

The employee benefits market is crowded, and most of it reads like one long, beige sentence. We can't out-spend them. We can't out-feature them. What we can do is out-think, out-stage and out-say them - be the one company in this category with an actual point of view, that tells the truth and is genuinely useful to the person reading. We strive to be disruptors, say the uncomfortable thing.

About Mintago: We help SMEs run employee benefits and financial wellbeing properly - saving the employer real money and giving employees true financial resilience that isn't just a forgotten perk. We're about supporting the businesses that are the backbone of our economy. We like to show caring employers that they do NOT have to choose between culture and bottom-line. And we're proud to be helping employees get smart with their money and thrive.

Our audience is two people who have to be convinced together. The HR leader wants benefits their team actually values and uses, without more admin and without getting it wrong. The Finance leader wants genuine savings, without complexity or compliance risk.

The Role: This is a senior role combining strategy with hands-on creation and execution. You own the brand voice and build the content engine end-to-end into something that cuts through the beige and makes Mintago unmistakable. Your job is to think, strategise, write, create, and build engaging content. This is a role for someone fast, curious, creative, full of energy and hard to bore.

  • Write vision-led thought leadership, fun insight pieces, websites and emails that make people stop and act.
  • Hold the hook standard on everything we publish, including the ads the agency produces.
  • Connect deeply with HR and Finance leaders, reframing our value proposition so it lands for both buyers without relying on feature lists.
  • Direct content in every format - video, audio, or visual - briefing with taste and making sure every piece has a clear brand, strategic or commercial outcome.
  • Partner with Sales and Customer Success to nail case studies, one-pagers, and launch messaging that helps close deals.

We want an AI-enabled human voice. You'll use AI to be efficient - to ideate, research, and scale - but the voice, the judgement, the approach, and the hooks are unmistakably yours. Sometimes you'll be on the page, sometimes on camera, sometimes the expert in the room, occasionally behind a mic. You'll need the appetite to step up and be seen. If that's not you, this isn't the role.

Your support system: You won't do it alone. You'll work with a marketing ops team who can operationalise and amplify your copy, a performance agency running and creating ads, a social media manager activating your content, a designer to make it stand out, and a Head of Marketing helping you shape strategy, direction and positioning.

What we're looking for:

  • Background: 6+ years in senior content marketing roles within tech, SaaS or insights.
  • You've written for an SMB audience and understand their needs.
  • Startup or scale-up experience - you're comfortable building the plane while flying it, and okay with ambiguity, chaos, and conflicting priorities.
  • You've built and rebuilt scalable content engines, and can point to the metrics they moved - balancing creativity with commercial savvy.

Musts:

  • You can nail writing, editing, and storytelling. You think in hooks and understand why they work, across formats, short-form or long.
  • You understand what it takes to operationalise content: editorial workflows, briefing, quality control, reuse and syndication.
  • You're a creative type A. Strong stakeholder, project, and time-management skills - this is a hugely collaborative role.
  • Numbers also make sense. You understand content performance, turning data into clear insights and decisions. You experiment, test, fail, learn, and iterate. A lot.
  • You've published or spoken under your own name - a newsletter, a talk, a podcast, a social video with a point of view - and you can show us the work.

Nice to haves:

  • A good grasp of SEO, AI-search behaviours, and content frameworks.
  • A commercial mindset - you connect content decisions to business priorities, pipeline influence, and brand impact.
  • Data-driven instincts: you're not an analyst, but you want to find the story in the insight.
  • Highly organised, comfortable juggling priorities in a fast-paced start-up.
  • Genuine excitement about the intersection of finance and technology.
  • A taste for taking a boring concept and making it easy to understand and impossible to ignore.

What success looks like (you’ll be measured against):

  • Creative strategy: Clarity and strategic differentiation, work that's unmistakably Mintago, ideas the whole team reuses, and a steady test-and-learn loop that sharpens the content over time.
  • Thought leadership: engagement (shares, downloads, comments) and third-party recognition (backlinks, speaking or podcast invitations). Mintago is a source, not just another publisher.
  • Brand exposure: press coverage, guest placements, and other third-party mentions that put Mintago's name and point of view in front of the market without paying for the placement.
  • Lead generation via content: inbound sign-ups and downloads that come directly from content, e.g. gated reports, webinars, newsletter growth.
  • Brand awareness: growth in branded search volume and AI-search visibility: evidence more people are looking for Mintago by name.
  • Social engagement: growth in engagement rate and following on the channels where your content and voice find our audience.

This role isn't for you if you…

  • You’re more analytical than creative.
  • Write "We're thrilled to announce…"
  • Wait for a perfect brief before you start.
  • Fill a calendar and call it a strategy.
  • Sound like everyone else in the category, only more polished.
  • Prefer being safe and grammatically correct over being relatable and useful.

The interview process:

  • Your work kit (MacBook Pro).
