Salary: Competitive day rate depending on experience
Contract length: 12 to 18 month contracts
Mint Selection is speaking with experienced Protection and Control Engineers ahead of upcoming contract requirements on renewable generation, storage and HV substation projects. Protection schemes detect faults and isolate the affected asset, so the scheme design and settings work in these roles underpins safe operation of the network.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop protection philosophies and scheme applications for renewable, storage and substation projects
- Carry out fault studies, grading and coordination, and produce relay settings
- Check settings, logic and technical calculations, and provide independent technical assurance
- Coordinate design reviews with secondary design, SCADA and network operator teams
Experience & Qualifications:
- Previous protection engineering experience on HV substations, renewable generation or BESS projects, with clear evidence of the voltage levels and schemes designed
- Working knowledge of numerical relay platforms such as Siemens SIPROTEC, Hitachi Energy Relion or SEL
- Experience using DIgSILENT PowerFactory or ETAP for settings and coordination studies
- Understanding of network operator protection standards, including G99 protection requirements
- Engineering degree advantageous
