We are seeking an experienced BESS Integration Engineer for a first-of-its-kind project combining a utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with an offshore wind farm via HVDC. This technical role focuses on control system integration, interface management, and operational optimisation across BESS, HVDC, offshore wind, and trading systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and manage interfaces between BESS, HVDC, offshore wind, and plant control systems.
- Support integrated control and operating philosophy development.
- Coordinate with OEMs, contractors, and stakeholders for system integration, testing, and commissioning.
- Lead BESS control logic and trading/optimisation interface development.
- Support UK Grid Code compliance, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary workstreams.
Requirements:
- Strong BESS integration experience in large-scale power projects.
- Experience with control systems, SCADA, and plant controllers.
- Knowledge of UK Grid Code compliance and testing.
- Ability to coordinate multiple OEMs and stakeholders.
- Understanding of grid constraints, trading, and optimisation.
Desirable: HVDC-connected projects, offshore wind co-located with BESS, familiarity with PSCAD/PowerFactory, protection and SCADA integration experience.
Location & Working Pattern: UK-based, hybrid/remote; travel to Norwich (site) and London (~1–2 days/week, more during commissioning).
