Mint Selection have partnered with a leading investor and asset manager to recruit a Senior Commercial Asset Management Lead in London to lead the commercial asset management arm of the business.

Our client are a renewable infrastructure investor focused on developing and managing clean energy and energy storage assets, with ambitions to support decarbonisation through a diversified portfolio of energy-transition investments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial Leadership & Team Management
    • Lead and develop a small commercial asset management team, providing guidance, coaching, and performance oversight.
    • Establish clear objectives, priorities, and performance measures aligned with broader business and portfolio goals.
    • Act as a senior escalation point for complex commercial, contractual, and stakeholder matters.
    • Drive collaboration across teams and locations to improve operational consistency and knowledge sharing.
  • Portfolio Commercial Management
    • Oversee the commercial performance of a renewable energy and energy transition portfolio, ensuring revenue optimisation and effective contract execution.
    • Manage multiple revenue streams, monitoring performance, reconciliations, and settlement processes to ensure accuracy and maximise value.
    • Support market participation activities, including bidding strategies, auction submissions, and qualification processes for relevant grid and flexibility services.
    • Maintain relationships with route-to-market providers, trading counterparties, and other commercial partners while monitoring market developments and opportunities.
  • Financial Oversight & Reporting
    • Lead the annual budgeting process across the portfolio, ensuring alignment between operational plans and financial objectives.
    • Support finance functions through invoice validation, reconciliation activities, and revenue settlement reviews.
    • Oversee the preparation of monthly commercial reporting, providing meaningful analysis and commentary on portfolio performance.
    • Contribute to investor reporting and internal business reviews by delivering clear commercial insights and performance assessments.
  • Contracts, Insurance & Governance
    • Manage commercial agreements across the portfolio, ensuring contractual obligations are met and opportunities for value enhancement are identified.
    • Oversee portfolio insurance arrangements, including renewal strategies, market engagement, and negotiation activities.
    • Ensure effective administration of third‑party agreements relating to trading, operational services, land arrangements, and other portfolio obligations.
    • Monitor evolving regulatory frameworks, market reforms, and policy developments to assess impacts and identify new opportunities.
  • Market Participation & Revenue Optimisation
    • Support front‑office activities including service bidding, commercial negotiations, and execution of market‑facing agreements.
    • Oversee back‑office processes relating to revenue settlements, balancing arrangements, contractual payments, and performance verification.
    • Evaluate new revenue opportunities, flexibility market developments, and emerging commercial structures that enhance portfolio returns.
    • Maintain awareness of industry and regulatory developments to ensure assets remain well positioned within changing energy markets.
  • Projects & Continuous Improvement
    • Provide commercial leadership and support on strategic initiatives, including new systems implementation, operational enhancement projects, construction activities, and revenue optimisation programmes.
    • Work across functions to identify process improvements and implement scalable solutions that improve portfolio performance and operational effectiveness.
    • Contribute to the ongoing development of commercial asset management practices, ensuring alignment with industry best practice and organisational growth objectives.

Requirements

  • Degree educated in an Engineering, Numerical, Economical or Science discipline.
  • Several years experience in the renewable energy industry, preferably in a trading, optimisation or regulated environment.
  • Experience in Solar PV, Onshore Wind and/or Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects.
  • Strong analytical skills – ability to interpret large and complex data.
  • Solid leadership and people development experience.
