Role – Project Quality Engineer Location – UK / Travel Across Multiple Project Sites Required Mint Selection are partnered with a leading organisation within the energy sector to recruit an experienced Project Quality Engineer to support the delivery of major UK battery energy storage projects. The position will provide client-side quality assurance throughout construction, commissioning and handover. Reporting to the QA/QC Manager, you will oversee inspection and defects processes, review contractor Inspection and Test Plans, conduct quality audits and ensure the required records are assembled progressively to support site acceptance and handover to Operations. Key Responsibilities * Review and approve contractor Inspection and Test Plans, identifying client witness and hold points and attending or reviewing the associated inspections. * Verify that inspections and tests are completed and recorded against approved plans, maintaining a clear view of inspection status. * Ensure site inspection and defects processes operate effectively, tracking outstanding defects and verifying close-out. * Carry out site quality inspections and walkdowns, reporting findings and following actions through to completion. * Plan and conduct quality audits covering contractors, subcontractors and the Principal Contractor where applicable. * Audit compliance with approved quality plans, method statements, inspection requirements and quality records. * Raise and manage non-conformance reports, supporting root cause analysis and verifying the effectiveness of corrective actions. * Maintain the project NCR register and report recurring issues and quality trends. * Review contractor quality documentation, personnel competence and equipment calibration records. * Verify receipt inspections, identification, traceability, storage and preservation of materials and equipment, including BESS, power conversion systems and HV plant. * Lead or attend contractor quality meetings, setting clear expectations for standards and performance. * Support site acceptance testing and pre-energisation inspections, verifying that the required evidence is available. * Verify the progressive assembly of handover packs, lifetime quality records, punch lists and as-built documentation. Experience Required * A minimum of five years’ QA/QC experience within construction, gained with a site owner, client organisation or leading contractor. * Practical experience of site inspections, defects management and verifying corrective actions and close-out. * Experience supporting site acceptance testing and reviewing inspection and test records. * Strong understanding of construction quality management and electrical and mechanical inspection practices. * Up-to-date working knowledge of ISO 9001 and its application to project quality management. * A recognised ISO 9001 Lead Auditor qualification, with experience planning, conducting and reporting audits. * Relevant quality assurance or quality management qualifications. * An engineering qualification at HNC/HND level, or equivalent demonstrable experience. * A CSCS card appropriate to the role. * Experience managing non-conformances, root cause analysis and corrective action processes. * Accurate record-keeping, clear written reporting and confidence challenging contractors on quality issues. * Willingness and ability to travel across the UK to support multiple project sites.
